ASP-NEWSASP signs Mass Change contract14. July 2023

Last month ASP Equipment GmbH signed a contract with Airbus Defence and Space on the delivery of major equipment for the US-German Mass Change mission, namely the Power Conditioning and Distribution Unit PCDU.

Mass Change consists of a pair of identical satellites that will measure the Earth´s gravity field with the highest precision. It’s a follow-on mission to the well-proven GRACE-FO satellites which are currently orbiting our planet with the same measurement task. With Mass Change, the long-term observations of Earth’s gravitational field will continue seamlessly.

Airbus Defence and Space, the Prime Contractor for the Mass Change satellite platforms, is a standing customer for ASP in numerous space missions such as Galileo navigation satellites, Copernicus ROSE-L radar sat and MetOp meteorological satellites. “We are humbled by this new example of continuous trust that Airbus places in ASP, and we are proud to be part of one of the longest lasting cooperation programs between NASA and the German Space Agency DLR”, says Reiner Strobel, ASP´s CEO.

PCDUs are one of three major product lines at ASP. The company´s portfolio also covers Power Supplies for electric propulsion and Electrical Power Conditioners for radar and microwave instruments.
