Driven by budgetray constraints in Germany Small and Medium Size Space Enterprises (SME) face challenges in gaining funding in ESA technology programs. Lothar Riebsamen, member of German “Bundestag” looks for a joint dialogue together with representatives of SMEs in the Lake Constance region. ASP-Equipment with its new state of the art development- and manufacturing site was host of this meeting, since the company is able to represent a typical space SME in Germany. All involved companies together with the economic development agency “Wirtschaftsförderung Bodenseekreis” discussed about challenges and chances of the current governmental budgetary situation. After the discussion Lothar Riebsamen summarized the meeting that he is convinced from the innovative capacity and the product quality of space companies. He said “ There is a considerable high level potential in you. In such Small and Medium size Enterprises magnificent ideas are created and put into practice. The competitiveness has to remain in order secure High-Tech workplaces. I will communicate the concerns of Space SMEs to Berlin. Specific contacts have already been made”.
