ASP-NEWS🚀 Successful launch of MetOp-SG-A1 – with ASP Equipment technology on board! 🚀28. August 2025

On August 13, the first satellite of the MetOp Second Generation (A1) was successfully launched aboard an Ariane 6 into its planned polar orbit. ASP Equipment GmbH (ASP) warmly congratulates ESA, EUMETSAT, and all partners on this milestone!

We are proud to have contributed with three essential components to this important step in Earth observation:

🌍 METimage – Front-End Electronics Power Supply for the multispectral camera (Customer: Jena Optronik)
📡 MWS – Power Converter Module for the Scanner Control Electronics for the microwave sensor (Customer: Jena Optronik)
🔬 IASI-NG – Power Supply Module for the Mechanism Drive Electronics for the infrared spectrometer (Customer: SYDERAL)

Commissioning is ongoing – stay tuned for updates!

The MetOp satellites are part of the European EUMETSAT program for polar weather and climate monitoring. They deliver highly precise data on temperature, humidity, wind, clouds, and trace gases – an indispensable foundation for weather forecasting, climate research, and the protection of our environment.

✨ We wish the MetOp mission great success, stable systems, and many valuable data sets for science and society.
