The SPICA PPU is optimized for constellation programs and related requirements: The choice of GaN-based components enables a very light and small design. In the standard design, the radiation immunity is 30kRad; with additional shielding, 50kRad is also possible. The piggyback PCB design leads to a simple structure, which results in low manufacturing costs for quantities. The controller allows operation in different modes (orbit raising, station keeping), digital commissioning and in-series inspection and testing. The PPU for power levels up to 900W has an optimal form factor and can be electrically contacted by means of various connectors.
